Exactly what constitutes an “emergency” varies from patient to patient. Your emergency could be a basic chipped tooth, or it could be full-blown, blinding pain in your jaw that makes you unable to function. The one thing that emergencies all have in common is that they are not convenient.
Whatever your injury, it should not be ignored or left alone. Even a minor injury to your teeth and gums can become severe if not addressed quickly. This can lead to extensive, expensive and uncomfortable future treatment needs. It can also spread to other areas of your body and cause real health concerns. Always come straight to the dentist if you are debating whether or not it is an emergency.
